Mad Lobster Cooking - In The Dishwasher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Folks, I was compelled to post this one from EPICURIOUS.COM:

Lobster in the Dishwasher
Someone told me that you can cook lobsters
in a dishwasher so long as there are no
dishes or detergent inside. Has anyone out
there done it? What cycle? For how long? I
would love to give this a try as I think
it'd be great for making lobster for a large
group. HELP!

Hi Kokopuffs:

Too funny.

My first question is why would anyone want to cook anything in a dishwasher??

I've heard of cooking a whole salmon in the dishwasher but I don't know the method It was wrapped in foil (natch)and was cooked on the top rack. I do remember some guy being interviewed about this one but I can't remember his name. This guy has a cookbook, has been on TV and spend some time a summer or two ago driving aroung North America in an airstream trailer retrofitted to look like a toaster. He served plates with Barbie dolls on them. Am I ringing any bells with anyone?

WRT the lobster. What's the dishwasher gonna smell like after this one?

I've just arrived from Kokopuff's link. Too funny! Have you heard of The Kitchen Sink Cookbook

which includes a recipe for shrimp prepared in the clothes dryer. Would it be "Tumbled Shrimp"?

I fondly remember the old college trick of making grilled cheese with a clothes iron: prep the sandwich as if for the grill, but wrap it in heavy duty foil, preferrably multiple layers. Iron and enjoy! I never tried this, but some friends did, and swore it worked.

Poor lobster! I love with just regualr melted butter but I doubt the lobster with soapy aftertaste would be succesful.

Hey, why not if you can cook roadkill under the hood of your car!?!? Maybe one day they'll invent some kind of machine that you can plug in and it will heat up and you can cook your food in it and everything!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder what act of desperation made a cook stick lobsters in a dishwasher in the first place? "Oh hey chef louiee the 100 top is here and guess what? Thet all want lobster!"LOL. Seriously though I'm sure the washer has got to be a high temp. wash and rinse cycle in order to cook the bugs. Sorry you bunch of low temp. dishwasher users your time hasn't come. But wait, maybe add lemon juice to the cycle and end up w/ lobster ceviche only after 6 loads. The creative juices are flowing now. Chef has a new gadget to work with.

Yes, and I like to dry my clothes in the oven, do the dishes in the washing machine,
and iron my shirts on the French top!

Somebody just has too much time on their hands...

I guess the diswasher would come up to temp but would you want to do dishes in it afterwords? Most domestic washers are lined with plastic which tend to absorb oders......
I think you catch my drift. Novel idea..but!?!?!
