Default Chewy Fudge Sauce

Hi ~

I just made a fudge sauce recipe for the second time. The first time it tasted great but was a little grainy and I could see that it hadn't all totally combined. This time I think I cooked it a little more (too much?) and it's chewy and very hard when put on ice cream.

My question is, is there anything I can do to soften/thin the chewy sauce?

Thanks so much.

I assume you mean hot fudge, chocolate hot fudge? Add a little cream while it's cooking.

Yes, chocolate fudge sauce. Thanks, I'll try that.

It tastes delicious, but was so chewy it was hard to eat! Adding cream worked well. Actually I had no cream so just used the 1% milk I had on hand.

I wrote out & thought I posted the recipe but looks like it got lost somewhere. So here it is:

In a heavy saucepan combine:

4 oz. semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, broken up (I used a 4 oz. bar of Ghiradelli)
4 T. butter
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar ( I wonder how brown sugar would work?)
1/2 c. water
1/4 c. light corn syrup

Cook & stir over med. heat til all is melted and combined. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 10 min. Remove from heat, add

1 tsp. vanilla

Enjoy!
