Default Source for Sunflower and Pumpkin Seeds

Today I found that the compamy I've been buying my seeds and nuts from - which sells to many health food stores and organic groceries - gets their nuts and seeds from China. Because of recent food safety issues, I do not want to buy food products that come from China. Does anyone know of a good, reliable, US source for these items, preferably organic?

Default source for seeds & nuts

I purchase seeds and nuts in bulk from the natural food stores. If you need large quantities, you may be able to work with them for special discounts.

AS do I, but, as I said earkier, the nuts come fro\m China, and I am looking for a source that uses US grown nuts, or nuts from some other countries.

you could try calling a local organic certification body and ask for any potential sources.

I don't know about sun seeds and pumpkin seeds locally for you, however, I have ordered WONDERFUL California almonds on-line direct from farmers co-ops (sorry I can't think of the link, but you could google). It is almost impossible to get raw almonds anymore (they are mostly now heat pasteurized aka roasted, the farmers coops sell them truly raw, perhaps include unpasteurized in your google), and the quality was incredible and free shipping over a certain amount of pounds, good price too. And money direct to farmers which is always a good thing IMO.

yeah, I noticed the Trader Joe's "organic" sun and pumpkin seeds were from China too.

Did you see yesterday's report of people dying from tainted pharmaceutical products, 80% of our prescription drugs have foreign ingredients in them or are made in foreign labs. ABC had on a man who lost both his son and wife to tainted pharmaceuticals with the source being a Chinese manufacturer. FDA asleep at the switch was the message.

I buy all my nuts from US and Canadian origin. I used to buy organic Sicilian almonds in bulk, but stopped when I found the Cali farmers co-ops. Some aren't organic, but I prefer North American conventional over China organic.

I know some farmer's markets supposedly only sell domestic crops, but you've probably already gone that route. Wow, I had no idea that so many were imports...

The farmers markets around here onlycarry locally grown products. If the item isn't grown or produced with9n 100 miles (maybe 200) of the market, it's notavailable. I've never seen sunflower seed or pumpkin seeds at the local markets. I'll take another look the next time I venture forth -
