Default Lamb Shanks

I am cooking lamb shanks for guests this week end and the recipe calls for red wine. My wife does not want to use wine, what can I use in place of it?

Water, chicken broth, vegetable broth, fruit juice (not for all the liquid but you can water it down). You might want to add a touch of lemon to make up for the acidity in the wine then.

I would use mac & cheese or something to replace the wife's lamb shank.

What Suzanne said - could use some red wine vinegar (not too much its strong) or even balsamic vinegar if you like - need something to help soften the meat and cut through the fat.

Default mmmmmmmmmmm lamb shanks

one of my favourites, i often bake them long and slow in the oven on a lowish heat with a little salt and water and roast them till the meat is just falling off the bone

if i was going to braise/casserole them then i would use a good chicken stock with a mirepoix , throw some fresh mint and rosemary in to the mix, maybe a little lemon pepper and garlic and cook them super super slow in a lowish oven

Default The New Top Chef?

Personal, at this point and time I feel that the new Top Chef season is kind of weak right now. I know that it's only the Fourth show but no one really stands out. Don't get me wrong, I love Top Chef...I've watched all the seasons and enjoyed them. But, on this new one someone really needs to step it up..Because, ****'s Kitchen is coming on soon and those people are hungry and will do whatever it takes..How do yall feel about the show?
