Italian all the way, followed by all classic European Cuisine. Right up there is chinese, GOD I love chinese. I haven't had alot of thai, but I really enjoy the play on sweet and spicey. Never had sticky rice with coconut cream, and coconut ice cream. But I think really soon I have to see what I have been missing.

There was a similar thread a few months back, with a poll. I searched but didn't find it.

We could only pick one. I think I voted Italian in that one, but there's also Indian, French, Mexican . . . . . So much depends on the quality of preparation. I might pick whatever has the most variety.

I grew up in India and even within that country there are so many regional cuisines, though one thing they have in common is generally complex spicing.

Can I say American and include ALL the stuff we are familiar with, including enchiladas and pad thai and sushi and filet mignon, bulgogi and Lebanese kebabs?

I like some Mexican, love Italian, i like Hungarian(i cant spell sorry kind of sad im part Hungarian) i also like Chinese but havent had as much of it as i want to, my main goal for this year is to try sushi.

Came out in the top of my search, but it was my thread so I knew some good search terms. Some votes have been placed since then and Italian finally eked out a win. Middle Eastern held the lead for quite a while there.

I work in a Chinese restaurant so it is definitely NOT Chinese. Although it is delicious, after eating it every night for a year, you get a tad sick of it.

I adore Cajun Cooking, being raised on it and all. Growing up in Texas though, a couple of my favorites are barbecue and Mexican. My mom and I share a special thai and sushi restaurant though... hmmm....

All hard choices though, I could live off of these 5 cuisines for my whole life.

Mine would be French, but secondi I love Italian food for its simplicity, there is nothing like a good home made pasta, just two ingredients eggs and flour, fantastico. Fresh salads, olives lemons are all amongst my favourite things, oh and a cold Peroni with those olives

If I had to have one staple ingredient, it would be potatoes. As long as I was free to add a little bit of whatever ingredients. That wasn't along the rules of this thread, but wanted to throw that in! Potatoes can be made in French ways, Indian ways, German ways, Italian ways, Brazilian ways, Moroccan ways, Russian ways, Chinese ways . . is there any cuisine excluded?

Considering I am half Irish, as far as potatoes go, I can think of one excluded, and incredible cuisine:

Thai.


To me, Chinese food can at its best, taste like a foundation of a great Thai dish, without the full flavor.

Vietnamese has all of the fresh herbs, like in Thai, without the full flavor.

Philipinno food tastes like somebody trying to make Thai food and they don't know how.

No other food that I can think of (never tasted Indian yet) combines so many intense tastes. Good Thai food is like a small S&M experience. The flavors are so good; But it hurts! And when you it eat it you keep coming back for more.
