Default A question about measuring

Hello
I bought powdered ice cream mix in bulk. It came in 6 pound containers, The directions say to add 2 gallons of milk or water to 6 pounds of the ice cream mix. My mackine makes 1 & a 1/2 quarts of ice cream. Please tell me the ratio of how much milk or water to ice cream powder mix
Thank you
George

Can't be that hard to fiigure out. You MUST have a scale for this to work well though.

What is the volume of your normal ice cream mix when you make it yourself before churning? That will give you a guide for how far to go with reducing the ratio.

Then reduce the ratios until you get close to that amount.

So 2 gallons to 6 lbs mix reduces to:

1 gallon to 3 lbs

1/2 gallon to 1.5 lbs

1 qt to 12 oz

2 cups to 6 oz mix and so on. I'd wager this as close to the volume you'd start with. Pour the dry mix into a measuring cup and write down the amount so you won't have to weigh next time though weighing will probably produce a more consistent result.

That was easy. Certainly you could have figured that out yourself, no?

Phil

I'd start with 6oz and 2 cups just to see how much volume you get.

Was there a reason to answer the question that way? If they asked for help it's my guess they couldn't figure it out. Not everyone has the necessary skills for figuring formulas. Myself? I couldn't tell you what the results of adding 1/2 and 1/8 would be. I'm horrible at math beyond simple fractions.
