Those 8x8 slabs of himilayan salt that you can heat up and cook things on.

I guess nobody has experience cooking with them. I have had (American) Kobe beef sashimi served on top of these blocks. It made for a nice presentation...and the beef was delicious.

Have you got a couple to experiment with?

Yes, I picked up a couple on ebay. I was thinking of something with beef.

Was the beef cold then when you did it? or seared on the outside?

The beef was cold. Served with mushroom chips and a truffle-mayo sauce. I thought the mayo sauce was good but a bit over powering for the beef. They served it with some crostini which I dipped into the mayo-truffle mixture instead.

If you like, you can go to the bar section at David Burke's Primehouse and get the Kobe beef appetizer (it was $15.00). This way you can try it and don't have to sit down for the whole meal, unless you want to

I've never seen anyone cook with the salt blocks before...sounds interesting. I may have to keep my eyes open for some.

There is also a Tuna Sashimi on Himalayan Salt recipe near the bottom of this link.
