A basted egg is almost like a sunnyside up egg. You crack your egg into a frying pan with a good amount of butter and then spoon the hot butter over top of the egg to help set the top of it. It makes it just a little less runny than a sunnyside up.

i was at work the other morning and a customer asked for a basted egg i was woundering if anyone knew what he ment.
