Default local asparagus

Does anyone know when local asparagus is in season and where to buy it? local markets? local farmers? i wouldn't mind a field trip to an asparagus farm if it isn't more than a couple of hours away from chicago.

Have you seen the June issue of Chicago Magazine? (Gabrielle Reece Cover) There is an entire article on produce markets and local growers in and out of the Chicago area, including addresses and phone numbers. I'm willing to bet someone has asparagus.

Heather, the Michigan crop is in and its pretty good. The problem with Michigan asparagus is that it is not uniformly sized.
