Question Pomegranate Extract

Hello there,

My apologies if I waste your time (this is a very easy question to answer). Is pomegranate extract the same ingredient as grenadine?

Your question is not a waste of anyone's time here. Unfortunately I don't know the answer. Welcome to the forum though.

No Grenadine is made from some of the fruit, but the rest is fructose, corn syrup, flavorings and color etc. The extract is derived directly from in an unaltered state. One is a man made processed product the other is not or should not be. In cooking however the grenadine is sometime used because the kitchen does not have the xtract.

well, the 'grenadine' you buy in the stores certainly is loaded with fructose and other garbage, but "real" grenadine, is usually simply cane sugar, pomegranates, water, and maybe some blackcurrant.

The cocktail bar I frequent (probably more times a week than I should) makes all their own Grenadine and some bitters even. (they even make/use Falernum!)

however, back to the OP's question, I'm not sure exactly "what" pomegranate extract is, (or what your specific interpretation is)

I'm referring to a recipe I found in a yoga magazine for pomegranate iced tea. Would you like the recipe?

sure, here is one (or two or three) recipe for grenadine.

Homemade Grenadine Syrup Recipe

The Spirit World - Grenadine

however, lots of others use POM juice, but i gave you the "from the fruit" recipe as I wouldn't dare make anything with that mass produced supermarket POM juice. (sarcasm)

Sorry I taken so long to reply to the message. I felt so guilty leaving it to the last minute lol Here it is:

Pomegranate Ice Tea:

Black Tea
Citrus (Freshly squeezed lemon juice, orange juice, etc)
Pomegranate Juice
Cubed Ice

1. Boil a cup of black tea preferably enough to share with friends. This drink doesnt last long since it's easy to run out of ingredients. Unless your Michael Smith from the food network.

2. Spill the juice! That's my slang for dont hold it in too long Cool the black tea down for an hour or so.

3. Drop ice in each cup with a serving of pomegranate juice on the bottom. Combine black tea. Garnish cup.

4. Trick children into eating and drinking healthy!
