| | What do you fill in your morning mug? I imagine many must have their morning cup of coffee. Lately for me it's been a morning cup of veggie stock!
I've been experimenting with different vegetables to see how they taste in a stock. With too much leftover last week, and not wanting to waste what little freezer space I had, I heated up and poured myself a mug full one morning and drank it straight. It was good, so I did it several days in a row!  I figure it must be a healthier way to start the day than not.
So what do others fill in their morning mug? |

| | Morning Mug Green Tea with some Honey, plus a splash of Ginger Juice. (We buy fresh ginger and use our juicer, then store juice in a jar in the fridge.) |

| | Nespresso! I've been spoiled by Nespresso since moving to Switzerland.
I start out the day with one of three blends that I've come to enjoy. Cosi, Volluto or Capriccio. There are also specials that come out every once in a while that I try. Right now it's a three pack of flavored coffees:
Gingembre (Ginger)
Mandarine (yep...mandarine orange flavored coffee)
Caramel (I add a touch of caramel flavoring to the cup for a bit more flavor)

| | I don't like eggs or milk, so as children my mother finally resorted to feeding me soup for breakfast in the morning. I would agree there is nothing better for breakfast that a hot cup of broth or soup to start the day. |

So what do others fill in their morning mug? | Do you know what makes an excellent broth? Dandelion greens. And you can eat the dandelion greens later as they are meant to be eaten at room temp or cold. Packed full of vitamins!
Me, I drink coffee with low fat half & half. No sugar, no artificial sweeteners!!! (!!! because it took me a long time to quit those things)

| | Dr told me to reduce my coffee intake by 80% so today I started with a cup of Yurba Matte which has been the norm for me lately. it gets a squeeze of either honey or mango juice and a shot of lemon.

Don't take the claims of the "health food" industry regarding "mateine" being different form caffeine seriously. The compounds in mate are in some ways very similar to caffeine, but different in others. I don't claim to be a pharmacologist or bio-chemist, but if the coffee restriction is heart-related, mate probably isn't the best substitute. But, otherwise it's probably OK. At any rate, check with someone who has real expertise.

| | Diatribe out of the way...
I usually go with two or three double espressos (straight, black) four or five mornings a week; while Linda has either a latte or an Americano. Right now we're using Trader Joe's "Peaberry," but we fool around with different beans, blends and roasters quite a bit.
The remaining days we use Linda's Cuisinart drip maker with fresh ground Mocha-Java or a fresh ground TJ dark roast -- I find medium roast (light City maybe) Mocha Java insipid from that pot, but she likes it. Sometimes we mix a pre-ground American coffee like Yuban or Folgers half and half with a cafe Latino like La Llave (if you're not from the west you're probably more familiar with Bustelo). That's not only a nice cup of drip coffee, but one which can be brewed at the office.

thanks for the tip but its actually because my internal body temp is too high, about 1.6 degrees. I was drinking about 2 pots of coffee a day(20 years in the kitchen will do that to ya) and after some fairly extensive research(I have scientist who was a tea specialist that I work with) this is what we came up with. While mate is similar to caffine it doesnt have the detrimental side effects to the kidneys, urinary tract and stomach that caffine does.

| | I devour a 22 ounce mug 180 degree water in a french press. I use 8 oclock Columbian Brand that was just voted very high by consumers affairs. It is consistant whereas some of the brands I used to use differed every time. Also Folgers was rated High
