Hi All, I have Brown Hoplo Catfish ( armored catfish ) in my pond that are suppose to be good eating but I can't find a way to cook them. I've tried the BBQ. the smoker and the oven. Can anyone help? Thank You! VW

I would fillet then flour, S&P, pan fry. Or batter and deep fry. What is the texture like compared to regular catfish?

Going off of Google, you'll need to skin them first, much like an eel. Once you've done that, fillet, simply grill/saute in butter with S&P & lemon, maybe some curry powder/paste if you like it.

There are about 50 species of these small fish. They come from South American waters
and most of time they are boiled with a lot of curry, If you boil them the skin will peel off. You have to knife peel them first before trying to cook any other way. In my opinion best use for them is bait or chum because they taste pretty bad, that is why they add a lot of curry when cooked. Some people call them walking catfish, because they can live out of water for some time. In Florida here they are common.
