Same is true for filled dumplings, I find. Every country has its version: wontons (Well the Chinese are the masters), kreplachs, pierogies, ziti, etc...

This is bad, I know. We're at a cooking site but, the most known pasties are those the strippers wear.

Ask this question to passers by on a street corner in Chicago and that's what you'll hear.

Greg, this cheese place was on the highway between Wausau and Edgar, of all places. It was on the south side of the road, if I remember correctly. Good luck! It was great cheddar, very memorable.

The pasties that are meat and vegetable pies are pronounced "past-ies" not "paste-ies". So even though they're spelled the same, there's no confusion in pronunciation.
