Yes, US$60 is a bit high for membership but the quality of the people you meet is high, as is the quality of the events. It's just first-class all the way. Plus, I believe you get their publication with your membership dues. They have some excellent books. Just go to a book store or even Amazon.com and check out "Slow Food..Collected Thoughts on Taste, Tradition and the Honest Pleasures of Food" for starters.
