Default The Artichoke War of the Early 1900s

Here is something interesting that I am sure many do not even remember. The day that NYC Mayor LaGuardia banned Artichokes due to the Mafia stranglehold on the product.

Fascinating! Although I have to admit I got a little lost by the end, with who did what to whom etc...

Just a word of warning to others who look at that link -- there are some rather gross pictures alongside the story. Not for the faint of heart.
