May be something like a starter course would be a good test run of this competition?

uh... could we maybe have an alternative for those of us (and I don't think I'm the only one) who don't generally "do" bits of dead beast?

I agree! I don't even know how to make Liver Pate. Or what it would be used in!

I'm still playing catch up but this does sound fun. I don't think my skills are original enough to play...but watching and testing sounds fun!

Liver pate may be found in french gastronomy / deli shops.

I'm not an original cook, I follow recipes. So I guess that means I can't play if you have to make up your own recipe.

Liesa M,
I'm going to assume that this is open to all, especially those from the Lone Star State. I'm sure that there is a dish or item that you have altered enough to your taste that is far enough away to say your not copying something.
I'm thinking the only original cook/chefs here, that were around before recipes, are Chefs like CC and Jim. The rest of us youngsters had to follow something

Yes, I guess we can lower our standards for entries

CompassRose...

If this ever gets off the ground you bet you could go the vegetarian route!!!

Everyone no matter what eating culture they enjoy should be able to compete.

I say to everyone (even if i'm bashed for this) to start posting your recipes following the guidelines spelled out in previous posts.

Have fun, do your best and let's learn together and share our little secrets (food related ofcourse)

Exclamation

The contest is still in the works. There have been some unforseen difficulties/communications gaps, however, we are still moving forward and ask that everbody enjoy the anticipation rather than skewer it.
Thanks!

What ever happened to this idea? It seemed to have such promise and alot of interest. Is it DOA for some reason? How about an update to let us know where it stands.

This is funny. I forgot all about the contest and it's been so long I forgot what "rather lengthy competition" I was referring to. Obviously I didn't win it!
