Default mushroom nutrition

What is nutritious in mushrooms and other fungi? I have never heard anything about the health benefits of them.

I found this article:
http://www.nutrition.cornell.edu/nut.../mushroom.html

This doesn't talk about truffles, though! I'd be interested to know about that, too.

Shrooms are genericsized in the article....I probably know the Mo guys that put the info out at Conservation.....anyway shiitake have different properties than button etc...wild being lethal PLEASE>>>>> that is sooooo extremist. My shiitake farmer friend is in Guatamala for a sustainable farm conference when she gets back I'll have her down load a bunch of nutritional info.

I was watching some chef on T.V. yesterday and he was going on about the health benefits of mushrooms - "lots of vitamins and minerals" Good for all sorts of things. He was making a Japanese mushroom dish and I have to admit that I wasn't listening very carefull until he mentioned that part. Was he just promoting his product, or do the Japanese have other ideas about their mushrooms? Interested in you thoughts on the subject.
