Hi guys,

Does anyone know the history/origins of coffee cake? A definition would help too. I can't believe it's just a cake with spices and streusel (sp?).
Also, can any coffee cake recipe be divided into muffins? (this probably belongs in another thread, but I'm feeling lazy).

This is going to sound a little bit different, but you know how when grandma and grandpa have their friends over for coffee and sweets and stuff like that ?, well that's where the name coffee cake comes from, it's basically a cake eaten while having "coffee". atleast that's what my home ec teacher told us.
