| | Re-Planning my trip...Need a little help Due to reasons I won't go into, I may need to cancel my trip to Las Vegas for the week of July 17th. If this is the case then I plan to cancel everything I've booked (car, hotel, air, everything) and move my vacation time to sometime in Augest but not sure when just yet. Now, I will be travelling alone and I'm willing to go all out. I don't care where I go as long as I can do it myself. Unfortunatly, I havn't gone beyond the starting line like figuring out where the **** I'm going to go. I have been to the following places so don't suggest them:
New Orleans
New York, Long Island
Hawaii
Florida, Orlando, Miami, and Ft. Lauderdale
Cruised the Mexican Riviera
and finally China/Hong Kong
I'd love to go to Europe, Australia, and Japan but I don't know where to start or what the travel season is like for them. I'm also not sure of any other options I may have. If any one you guys can make some suggestion on whatever, places you've visited around this time of the year or suggest something on Europe, Australia, and/or Japan. I'll be going for roughly 3-4 nights alone. Anything would be greatly appreciated. |

| | India...
I've been three times, two visits of about two months, one visit for about 5 days. Honestly, the more time you have the better, it is a great place to just show up in without much of a plan.
Monsoons have started, so you will not get the incredible heat, and you will see the country at its most green. Given enough time, I like to be there before monsoon for the 40+ degree heat, the incredible rain, and then this time, when everything goes from cracked earth to fully alive.
If you choose India, you can fly into Mumbai (Bombay) or New Delhi. Both are great, Bombay is huge and 'concentrated' for lack of a better word. New Delhi is not as large, cleaner than Mumbai, perhaps less of a culture shock all around. I've always flown into Mumbai, I like the extreme difference from Canada/ USA.
Flights get pricey for stays under two weeks.... Worth the extra time if you can get it.

| | Shoot! Piece of cake.... Alaska in August! Can't beat it. Take a cruise or a land tour. You're in Canada and you only have 3-4 nights. Hop on over to Anchorage, check out the night life in Anchorage (limited but fun) take a day and go to Homer, back to Alyeska, or go NE and go to Denali. But I say go west! |

| | I'm with Chrose on this. I vote for a stay in the Talkeetna area, where you can have views of Denali (if the clouds cooperate) and catch a float trip on the Chilutna River. It's on the rail line so you can get to and from Anchorage with gorgeous scenery on the way.

| | An Alaskan cruise sounds great, I'll do some research and check some prices. Thanks Chrose.
And thanks Grease but India has never really peaked my interest but I may end up going there sometime for the **** of it. |

| | I love France, but August would be hot and the French are all on vacation. So I'm with Mezz and Chrose, Alaska would be great! They both helped me last September when David and I went and we had a fabulous time. And a cruise might be a good idea since you're traveling alone. We did everything by car and train and loved the freedom, but a cruise would probably make things easier.
It's a gorgeous place and the people are wonderful. I'd go back in a flash (and intend to).

| | Ok, I may have hit a snag with the Alaskan cruise. The cheapest cruises around July and Augest, the ending port is either a place called Whittier or Steward which are both in Alaska. I was checking flights from Air Canada and they don't fly to or from there. I was thinking of looking up a cruise that'll take my back to Vancouver but that'll cost me just over $2k minimum. Does anyone know how I'm suppose to get home from either Whittier or Steward? Is there an international airport near there? |

| | HC, you can take the train from Whittier to Anchorage and catch Alaska Air to Vancouver. I don't think the cost is too bad (Of course that's all relative!) | |
