Great loss for the Rock World I just found out yesterday that one of the Greats of Rock-n-Roll died on 7/7. Syd Barret died at the age of 60. Syd was the original guitarist and founding member of Pink Floyd. Though he didn't last long with the group, due to mental illness and drug use, his influence continued to define the band and a whole generation of rockers. After Pink Floyd, Syd did a few solo projects but mainly retired to a relatively secluded life, spending his time painting and gardening. He died at the age of 60. One has to wonder what this man could have accomplished had he not suffered from his drug use and mental instability or if he could have created what he did without those. RIP Syd.
