Red face "Cute" food stories

The thread on double yolk eggs reminded me of a story that I thought I would relate and ask all for similar stories.
When shopping for eggs I have taught my son to do what I do. I move each egg quickly in the container. If they move freely generally they are good. If they are stuck that means they cracked and the albumen has dried to the container, move on to another container. One day when my son Kyle was about 13 he was picking up the eggs and standing there giving them a quick move to check them and, I assume, a well meaning (or just plain nosy) lady leaned over to him and said "there's 12 of them dear" Poor kid wanted so badly to make a comment to her, but he thought better and just said "I know, thanks". I just thought it was funny. Still do

Not about eggs but I made beef liver and onions not to long ago for the first time. Now both my kids love chicken livers so I didn't think there'd be a problem. Well, my son took a bite of his and said, "Mom what kind of chicken is this?" I told him it wasn't chicken, it was beef. So he took another bite and, of course, asked, "Well, what kind of beef is it?". I told him it was liver and he was ok with that. My daughter didn't like it so after a few more bites, he decided he didn't care for it either. This doesn't seem as funny reading it but seeing the expression on his face as he chewed the liver and asked what kind it was is a priceless memory.
