No Smile Shrek the Movie

I thought it was one of the best movies I ever saw!

It is very funny. With all the glorious subtlety of British humor and many many take-offs of other movies and fairy tales.

I cried at the "hallelujah" song.

(I've heard there was a secret chord, that David played to please the LORD, but you don't really care for music, do you? It goes like this, a 4th a 5th, the minor fall the major lift, the baffled King's composin' Hallelujah - that's all I remember of that song - in a very minor key of course - it is the broken-heart song of the movie - there has to be at least one, right?)

Another message board to be addicted to.

It must be time for breakfast...

Hello everyone!

Welcome Foodisme.
Shrek totally rocked, I think it's probably the best film I've seen this year.
Hope you enjoy this site.

Hi, foodisme, and welcome to Chef Talk. I just saw Shrek yesterday and liked it, although my husband was underwhelmed. I loved to pick out the Disney jokes! However, I would like to know what "shrek" means. I missed it while listening to NPR recently....

Hello

If you find out what "Shrek" means I'd be interested to know.

I noticed it's a bit like "Shriek" and I was wondering if that was a deliberate reference to the usual reaction of "normal people" to Shrek.

Did it remind you of Heidi and her grumpy old Grandfather? I thought of that with the donkey chattering away incessantly and Shrek didn't want to know; very similar I thought. That was only the beginning though, of course.

I was listening to NPR just after the election a lot because the other station I usually listen to was so politically biased it was taking my appetite away. I went back to it when election fervour was over and it hasn't been a problem since then. But meanwhile I discovered what a fabulous station NPR is. We're very fortunate to have a station network like NPR.

regards,
fim

Red face

One caution to Christians:

If you're a Christian you might want to read this before going - except it will give the plot away somewhat, though. Perhaps just know that some Christians are very offended at the values in this movie, before you head off to it.

Here's another one, although - is this one actually an ironic parody perhaps? It is very informative in any case!

(Oh excuse me moderator(s) if I am not supposed to post links on your site. Just delete them if I am not)

Hi foodismie,

I say Shrek and I am a born again Christian, and I did not feel this movie was all that bad. Both my wife and I enjoyed it and laughed a lot.
