I'm celebrating by staying home, behaving myself, and going to bed early.

Depends what you mean by traditional... my tradition is these little Chinese shrimp dumplings, crescent-shaped with greens, mushrooms and a bit of water chestnut. Believe it or not, goes great with Ketel One martinis. Of course, this may be because of the martini that's traditional to go along with all the handwork of putting the dumplings together...

I also will be spending new years with my 4 girls Jill,my wife, Amy rose "10" Rebecca lee "6" and Molly "7 months" Puppy
So It will be mellow, Which is fine with me.
I will have some osetra and toast. And I have been making a little Gravlox to enjoy.
My family likes King Crab, so I will probably go that route.
I have a bottle of 85 krug Clos de Mensiul and a 90 Le Grand Dame, Should do the trick Peace and love all of you and your family

I will be with my husband and my siblings. The siblings aren't very talented in the kitchen. We'll have to bring something.

We have a couple of very enticing parties to attend..but I'm really want to stay home and cuddle with hubby and celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. He's got two lobsters on order, I'm going to try the crabcake recipe that was posted on thie forum...and get some fantastic champagne (yet to be bought). Our neighbors who are Hawaiian are making a kahlua pull apart pork so that's tempting..but I think I'll just settle for getting the recipe and trying it at a later date.

I'm feeling a little chocolate eclairish for dessert as well. Hoping I can stay up til midnight to watch the fireworks at the Space Needle.

I've been curious for many years about New Year's traditions. My German grandmother always fixed cabbage - for money in the New Year. Most Southerners eat black-eyed peas/hoppin'-john. Italian eat lentils as do Peruvians -- and then the Peruvians were yellow underwear -- all for riches in the New Year.
Any other traditions?

I'm going to hang out with some friends at the local cowboy bar. I am also going to go for chinese food with my parents, because chinese food on new years is a family tradition since 1967.
