I'm so happy for you! You'll have a lot of opportunities to learn the business from the ground up. You're certain to encounter some un-cheflike attitudes in a corporate fast-food environment, but I'm sure there's a lot to learn about production, ordering, sanitation... wow. Good luck!

Congratulations.... I hope your first day went well!! I think it is wonderful that you did not expect to get paid for orientation! Certainly they should pay you, and you deserve pay for any time you give them, but in a world where everyone is so gimmie gimmie gimmie and expects total compensation for every second of their time, it is refreshing to see someone who is happy and willing to work, and feels that opportunity is rewarding!!!!
