Post Relationships in the workplace...

Recently a new waitress started working at my restaurant and she is a really sweet person. Would love to take her on a date, but I have always shyed away from relationships in the workplace. Has anyone out there had this experience? What are your thoughts.

stay away from that road! Keep work and pleasure separate unless you are a husband and wife team. And by all means stay very far away from that situation if you are a chef (management) and she is just a server. That can lead to many, many problems.

I agree. If you can't be 3000% sure that you can keep it a business/personal relationship, don't get into it. Actually don't even do it if you're sure about it. I've seen restaurants ripped apart because of the politics/gossip/mayhem that is created when this happens. It's hard when you sleep, eat and breeth your job but still, it's not worth it. Unless she's been on the cover of MAXIM. :-0

my husband now and i used to work together in a restaurant and we have now been married 15 years in some ways it is good because he understands the industry [he changed careers and is now a nurse] and knows about the long hours and what i have to deal with so he helps out a lot at home...but i have seen other relationships in the workplace turn very sour affecting the whole kitchen...be very very sure before you make the first step/

If the two of you are mature enough, go for it. I have had relationships in the past in which I worked with others then dated them. If things didn't work out on the outside we always agreed to keep it to the outside. It has never occured to me that a bad relationship has ruined my work ethics. GO FOR IT!!

Well just to let you all know, I chickened out. Everything looked good, but I am just too focused on my career right now to worry about a relationship. Oh well, I will find some in the future.

Thanks for the advice.
