Post Bitter wait staff

This is a spin off from "What is the grossest thing.." by chefteldanielle. Check out www.bitterwaitress.com to read their "revenge" tactics, which are really gross, and read their bashings of chefs.Talk about bitter!!

I can't remember which site it is on, but check out the story called "Monkey *ss" on one of the above sites. Hilarious.

Although some of those wait staff tactics are completely insane, it boggles my mind to this day the attitude of the customer.

I paid my dues in the biz for years as a waiter on the Upper East Side, (about $1.50 per hour salary plus tips)

I don't know what's like at other restaurants across the country, but if you had a table walk out without paying the bill-well your'e screwed and out of all your money for the evening's hard work)

Ironically I waited on, what I thought was a 'somewhat'well-dressed gentleman. (I had my doubts but the management insisted I work with him) He ordered a very expensive meal for himself, about $175.00 for everything exluding tax. When I dropped the check off he wrote on it, "I believe in God, I believe in Jesus, I'm sorry I can't pay this bill."

When I looked at his note, I looked at his writing and then yelled "what the **** is this? At least Jesus could have walked in ordered a glass of water turned it into a glass of wine maybe a few slices and bread ,who know's he probably could have a done a nice fois gras!!!"

And he just stood there, saying nothing. The manager charged me the meal, the guy left (manager insisted it wasn't worth it to call the police)and I went home from working a double with about $9.00 in my pocket.

(Superbowl Sunday was always a horrendous night to have to work)

Thumbs down

That's really bad. He saw the menu, he ate the food. Must have been a plan, or he really had a problem of some kind. Sounds like that manager needs assertiveness training. The guy should have made arrangements to pay when he could, so they wouldn't charge it back to you.
