| | That's all well and good, but what's for dessert? |
12-02-2000, 10:56 AM
| | | Dessert? I think that if we can hang a canopy over the pool and suspend a giant steamer, we should do a traditional pudding. I'm not going to say which one (don't want to scare the kiddies ), but you know . . . suet pastry with currants? The polite name for it is "Spotted Dog," I believe.
That sauce . . . Mother of All Sauces Sauce? You go ahead and try it first, Greg, and tell me what it tastes like.

| | heheh, we must compile a menu of biblical proportions built around "noahs ark" to produce the most ambitious meal ever - remember, no animal is too cute. |

| | Hey Cape, Beestohollvede works for me; it's got to be better than the acronym J&W chefs teach their students to help them remember the mother sauces (BETH VD). MaryeO, you can try it first, I'm just an idea guy! |

| | Thanks Greg,
Hey why don't we take two of every kind of tree from each continent (be sure to re plant)Make a big pile in the middle of Yankee sdadium ( I,m a mets fan) Turn it into a big smoker. Dry 1000 gallons of the dead sea for the salt and get 500 peppercorn bushes from Madagasgar. slow smoke for 40 days and 40 nights or until it springs back to the touch. (this way you know it's done)Season with sea salt and peppercorns and let rest one week before slicing. serve with the sauce on the side

Turducken is deboned bridies stuffed with stuffings and stuffed in each other...it is wonderful too. Paul Prudhomme's is the one I've had.

| | ive spoken to the fire dept and they will lend us their "jaws of life" - but of course, we have to wash it before we give it back. |

| | | | Oh, yeah, right. Like they wash 'em every time THEY use 'em!
We're going to need to find a volunteer to try that sauce, Greg, I have dependents. I'll let my husband do it . . . he has a cast iron stomach and no sense of smell (at all, literally). I saw what was living in his refrigerator when we first met; if he can survive that, he can survive a little sauce. |

I catered a birthday party for Edie - it was actually my first catering job, now that I think of it. The menu was simple; beer and hard-boiled eggs. Dozens and dozens of hard-boiled eggs, each with a hand-painted pink flamingo on it. I can only imagine the digestive aftermath! It was held in a gay bar; talk about a multi-cultural event!!
Actually, Edie was one of the sweetest human beings I ever met. She lived downstairs from us, and she used to get bags and bags of vintage and used clothing for the shop she used to have in Fells Point. I'd always get first crack at the bags for me and the kids - that was very much appreciated 'cause times were hard back then.
Hugs and kisses, Edie . . . where ever you are!! |

I'd been meaning to get back to you on this. Just quickly, I had a chance to get to know Edie shortly before she passed away. You may recall that she went on a tour "singing" in a "rock a billy" band. Well I was friends with some of the guys in the band and got a chance to spend some time with her. And she really was one of the most down to earth and funny people I ever met. I will always have fond memories of her and her tooth! She was like your "funny" grandmother! I wish I could have seen her when she was younger! I got to know the gang slightly with another band I worked with in the late 70's in D.C. by the name of "Lady". The bass player, a german guy named Bernd Tunkl knew Glenn aka Divine and got him to pose for some posters. That's when I got the chance to meet John Waters. What a group of people. It's one of my lifes fond (albeit weird) memories.
Now, back to food and Obryckis! |
