Default Finally Splurged!

So I finally broke down and bought a new LG SS Dishwasher, 3/4 HP KA garbage disposal, and LG Washer and LG Gas Dryer and a Thermador SS ME301ES wall oven. Bought the Thermador because it goes to 550 and the Fisher Pakel (nice oven) only goes to 500 F, and because I already have the Thermador 48" Gas Cooktop (SS). Wanted the kitchen to retain some semblance of having been designed that way. But then on the other hand I used to have a Dacor wall oven, and I'm like dancing with joy to be finally rid of it! Nothing but junk, and it cost an awful LOT OF $$ back in 1992 just to buy it. It and its supposedly "removable" bottom element to make "cleaning easier". Bah, Humbug. Never made a good electrical connection, so a 4 hour meatloaf came out tasting like raw Vets dogfood.

1 week AFTER the warranty expires then they tell me about the $110 special field fix. The field fix consists of hard wiring in the removable element, so it is no longer removable. The removable part was what made it so expensive in the first place.

And then the pigtail they soldered to was so short, that it experienced "plastic cold flow" and the insulation shorted out 220 V AC to the oven cabinet. Shot sparks out of the oven cavity 6-8 ft. Knocked me down!

But they wouldn't consider taking it back or even giving me a deal on a new model.

Yeah! No more Dacor!

Congratulations, Doc! What'll be your first thing to make in the oven?

Read of my disparaging episode of Thermador Wall Oven install yesterday in the Cooking Equipment threads.

Hope somebody will be able to reassure me that this is a good wall oven!

tx,
