Default what do you do when it's quiet

Are you ever quiet?
3 times a year my main source of income dries up. Oh, we tick over, but local holidays mean that Dundee empties. Most of the population can be found in either Blackpool, The Spanish Costas or at home, catching up on DIY.
I'm loving it, lovin it, lovin it.
Back in the day I used to worry they didnt want me anymore. But now i know that the folk simply arnt there.
Thankfully, we're busy enough the rest of the year to cover it and we make allowances.
So, after the deep, deep clean. And the menu overhaul. I get back to the other important things in my life that i only just manage to make time for usually... My writing is the main thing. I'm putting together a book about a fictional town square somewhere in Scotand. There are 2 main restaurants 1 indian restaurant and various other food outlets, including takeaways, cafes pubs and hotels. Oh, and the farmers market twice a week. All this dotted between the regular square life.
There's a comedic element and lots of intrigue. I have high hopes like every other budding author out there... Downside is that i drink a lot more red wine than usual and i'm back to 2 packs of smokes a day. Ah the price of ones art!!
Back to normal on the 14th... Bring on the Dundee fortnight (last week of Jul, 1st week of August)

Jan. when everyone is slow I'm really busy......for the past 7 years I've direct food stages for events. Between finishing editing the recipes, tying up loose strings to lining up equipment....usually there are corresponding wine dinners involved too.

When it's really slow I will stay in and read. When I ran the farmer's markets there was always PR/marketing that could be worked on....or contracts etc....

Funny the amounts you can do.

Yep its real quiet for me too. Since the majority of my customers have kids in school, my business is dictated by the school holidays, right now we are in Easter hols so everyone has disappeared.

I also deep clean and enjoy the slower pace but somehow dont feel any less tired, still have to be there 15 hours a day. I am spending every day making stocks and sauces, which I find very relaxing and satisfying. My neighbours are loving the aromas, they complain that I make them hungry.

Default I worked at Alaskan resorts for years...

...summers were our high-season and of course winters saw a severe slow-down. That's when I did my traveling. Headed down to the lower-48 to take classes, visit family and just generally lazed about. By March things were up and running big again. But I reached a point each October where I actually looked forward to winter shut-down.
