Default Laundry Detergent Recommendation

I'm looking for a recommendation for a laundry detergent. I want somerthing gentle and that won't fade colors. The items that will be washed in this detergent are very expensive, 100% cotton, and with vibrant or dark colors (black). I seem to recall hearing that a little distilled vinegar in the rinse water would reduce fading. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
scb

My suggestion would be Woolite.

More specifically, Woolite for Darks. Used it for years and it's great.
