Default Thanks for the best time NC & SC

Home today from a fabulous 2 weeks in the US. Hubby reckons we can do it again in October so Woo hoo!! So I need a sure fire repelent for the bugs. (The biting kind) "OFF" doesnt work for me. They love me and i react very badly. Ended up in ER last week with a suspected fractured elbow - Seems the bites in my arm had swollen my elbow so much, the nerves were trapped and I ended up in a sling. But 4 days on anti infamatories sorted it. So any proven fixes for the invisible demons, please share.

We randomly met so many really welcoming folk on holiday and as always we were overwhelmed with the genuine frendliness we were greeted with.
So thank you to Y'all for showing us the best time.

Welcome from South Carolina. I don't know where you went exactly, but yes, the bugs are pretty horrible during the summer here in SC and the coastland area of NC. What you might try next trip is to start taking Neem capsules 2 weeks before you leave and then continue taking them on your trip. I can't guarantee that this will work for you, but I have friends who have traveled to Thailand, India and South Africa and swear by this. You can also use natural sprays which may help a lot. They do for me.

If you're around Aiken, SC do look us up. Magnolia Natural Market.

BTW...love your website.

So glad you had a good time, other than the bugs.

For starters, they won't be quite as bad come October. But, even so, you don't need any if you react that way.

I make a bug repellent that seems to work for most people. It's a balm, made from pennyroyal---a natural bug repellent in the mint family. Once the balm is complete I stir in several drops of citronella essential oil.

Between those two active ingredients not many bugs are interested.

Among commercial products, Deet is the most effective anti-bug compound. But it has, unfortunately, been used incorrectly. According to studies done by the U.S. Army, a 35% concentration is the most effective. The stuff becomes less effiecient if you go down or up from there. Meaning that those products touted as 100% deet are expensive, but don't do a particularly good job.

Neem oil is, like Avon Skin So Soft, one of those products that works with individual body chemistry. For many people it is an effective bug repellent. But for just as many others it doesn't work at all. Those for whom it works swear by it. Those for whom it doesn't work swear at it. And they're both right.

we rented a place on lake Murray which was mozzie heaven. Spent a few days in Charleston which is always a pleasure. Ate out breakfast, lunch and dinner. My Favourite was Hymans. The scallops were mmmmmmm
Bubba gump does great shrimp and the only place in the US that I actually enjoyed grits

I've lovingly put on 6 of the 15lbs i lost before we left and enjoyed every ounce.

Thanks for the feedback re bugs I'll give your ideas some thought.
