I'm surprised (ok, not surprised so much as saddened) that Mr. Floyd's passing has had such little traction in our media. He was one of my favourites, incredibly fun to watch while still being informative and inspiring. I loved the way he never pretended he wasn't on TV when making his programs, bantering with his producer/camera man, almost directing from in front of the camera. He will be missed by me.

He was a lovely man - although I believe he could be extremely difficult, too. I shall miss him. I've had his latest book (autobiography) on order for about a month or so - sadly he died just before its publishing date (think it's 2 October).

I adored his first two TV series for the BBC 'Floyd on Fish' and 'Floyd on France'. They were absolutely wonderful. His later series were almost going through the motions, IMO. I also own a number of his cookbooks. The fish one is particularly good.

His director/producer, David Pritchard, also produces all Rick Stein's TV programmes. He seems to specialise in finding West Country chefs from areas not known for their chef-iness and bringing them to a wider audience. So nice to see great cooks from outside the London-centric celebrity area.

Loved him to bits. Ahead of his time. (the eighties and our UK shops wern't ready for him) His programmes were inspirational, I loved his passion for fish. Almost got hooked on french rustic.

Only black mark against him... He introduced us to Gary F*&^ing Poncy Rhodes. On a plus side tho, he also introduced us to Rick Stein.

I'm surprised it was his heart that gave out in the end. I really thought it would be his liver. He was a self confessed sot. But he did seem to really enjoy his vices didnt he?

RIP Keith. I hope you're in a place where the good red wine flows free and the chefs are 5*
