Post Sparkling Wines

The holidays are fast approaching since not everyone can live on champagne and foie gras how about mousse de foie and sparkling wines? A good compromise for the budget minded. Personally I love Codorniu from Spain. Anyone else?

I haven't had that many myself but here are a few sites that have pretty good coverage on them:

How about an Italian Prosecco, by Nino Franco - it's a bit lower in alcohol, and a very easy drink. A French sparkling wine, Charles de Fere isn't bad, especially for $8 or less.

The best value in Champagne is Oudinot N.V. I always favor a "cost-averaging" strategy: buy a mixed case or two, of wines that vary in price, and then only look at the total expenditure! If you average $15 per bottle, those two eight dollar "finds" help justify a $29 bottle of something nicer. (nice justification process, isn't it?)
