You almost got me to say Merl . . ., but instead I'm going for Malbec - a red grape variety popular in Argentina (and maybe elsewhere?)

That would leave a "c"

Altbier- literally translated, "old beer". It's kind of a stepping-stone between ale and lager in the evolution of beer.
