Default grappa

I am really enjoying a nice grappa we came across. it's a Moscato grappa, by Poli, awarded in 2002 International Wine and Spirit Competition.

I picked it up because it scored very high in wine mags, and because I love all things moscato, and it has been a delight. Not outrageously expensive either.

I was wondering if anyone has come across any other special grappas (or marc) to recommend. And also if there are any intersting dessert pairing suggestions. ( I always go for the cigar, but that's another story )

I have used it in savories too, game bird with white grapes and marc with a little brandy.

any thoughts on grappa?

There is an Italian dessert , a sort of Grappa Bread that I learned to do in my baking and pastry certification program in NY, I can see if I dredge that one up as I cannot find my Italian wedding soup recipe for someone else.

We had grappa with blueberries in it while we were in the Alps in Italy. It really warmed us up.

I wonder if they have this somewhere in the states.

Soak fresh orange slices and rind with fresh sage in grappa overnight. Present an orange sorbet in a martini glass, with mixture in a shaker (or simple cup with strainer) to be poured over by the customer. Cheers! S

I have a delicious one in my collection that it a grappa of Greco di Tufo by Mastroberardino (in Campania) It's pretty fiery, and doesn't pair with much of anything, but is great solo!

otoh, it's an incredible flavoring for chocolate truffles.
