Default Baking powder

Hello,
I am going to make chicken and dumplings yet the recipe calls for baking powder and I only have baking soda. Does anyone know any sbstitutions for baking powder and I don't have cream of tarter so that I could mix it with soda. Please help.

Yeah, this is a cooking question, but I moved it to where the folks who really understand the difference between baking powder and baking soda can see it.

There is no exact substitute for baking powder, particularly if you don't have cream of tartar to mix with the baking soda.

Baking powder is a combination of the two. Why can't yuou just buy some baking powder?

But if not, you'll need an acid to activate the baking soda. What else is in the recipe?

baking powder if often calld in in Chinese dunpling recipes and so there is no substitute. Is it hard to get in your neck of the woods?
