Default cherry cream cheese pie

have been thinking this might be a good combination.not a baker by any stretch of the imagination .any suggestions ?
should i mix the cream cheese like i would to make cheesecake and blend it to gether? i just want to avoid a baking disaster, would like to get it right the first time. would cream cheese work in a cherry pie if i just chunk it up and throw it in the mix?dont laugh too hard!!

Too many cherries will emit too much moisture, so you want to be careful, and strike a good balance. I would also make sure you drain your cherries well- even lightly squeeze them, to remove any water that might seep into the mix. Toss the cherries in starch before adding to the mix, to avoid sinking.

A regular cheesecake will work fine, and if you want more cherries, pour some on top with thickened cherry juice.
