| Welcome to Chef Talk, heyjude. The Welcome Forum is where you post a brief introduction about yourself. Please come back and do that so we can give you a proper welcome! In the meantime, I'll move your recipe question to the Pastries and Baking (General) forum where it'll attract the answer it deserves. Enjoy the site! We have great features here that you'll like, including articles, reviews, recipes and a search button to help you locate earlier conversations on topics that interest you. (That last feature is very powerful!) Nice to meet you, heyjude. Mezzaluna

| You can get starter from a friend (hence the Amish "Friendship" Bread name) or you can buy it, in dried form, from your local megamart. Gold Rush is a brand that I've used and it works well. After you get it started, your starter could last for generations, with proper care. Good luck. |

| I typed "Amish Friendship Bread Starter" into Google and it came back with 17,500 hits. Here's one of them. http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,194,1...224206,00.html
