Confused My Version of the Stork!

My version of Ewalds blown sugar stork from one of his books not exactly Ewald material but its a start. Did not have any black paint and I tried to paint the eye with yellow a painter I am not. Comments,suggestions give em too me folks!

Yeah my first attempt at something this big yes. The idea came out of one of Ewald Notters books The Textbook of Sugar Pouring and Pulling I did not realize up until a day or so ago that isomalt was such a devil to pull and blow but you just have to keep at it.

ive been searching and found some recipes and techniques on how to make these types of sculpture, and i was wondering what recipe did you use, i want to give my first try at this this weekend....

Depends on what type sugar you are using? Isomalt 3 parts to 1 part water boil to 329F. Granulated is a different animal and requires a few more steps. You take granulated to 329F and your going to have a mess. Let us know what sugar you are using.

well, i was planning on using granulated sugar, and i was searching this site adn i fell upon a lin that you had posted, but i cant remember the name of the site.... but it did give me a recipe with granulated sugar..

ok...so i went backand looked, and the site was pastrywiz.com

the recipe was as follows:

1lb10oz sugar
11oz corn syrup
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
8oz water

im pretty shure i do, the one thing i dont have is a blowing pump, because they are too expensive, but innstead i'm going to use a metal tube and blow into it...

If you can find an old blood pressure cuff just cut the cuff off and use the bulb and tube then all you have to do is insert a metal or wooden tube.
