| Well I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this but I wanted to show you what I'm doing in my retirement years. I'm really enjoying cake decorating, not sure I'll ever get too far with it at my age, but its fun anyway.. I was pretty happy with the way this one turned out and thought maybe you guys might want to have a look.. ![]() A close up ![]() |

I do actually do a few cakes for some extra spending money. One or two a month if I'm lucky.. Most are children's cakes though, and my orders are usually from repeat customers.. So I rarely get orders for any hand molded stuff.. Those are mostly for family and friends.. I'm into my fourth year playing around with this hobby.. If you care to have a look.. Yahoo! You are diffently a pro at the cake decorating. That cake is super cute & the icing is very smooth (did you use the viva paper towel to smooth it out?) I love the great detail on the baby & on the blanket.I also do cakes just for friends & family. I love it too. |

Yes, I use the Viva method.. Only problem now is the Viva here is being made with more of a bumpy pattern. Not as smooth as it used to be.. I'm going to have to try and find some other brand that will work like the old Viva.. |

Have you tried printer paper? waxed paper? a hot knife? those too work well to smooth out butter cream. I looked at your other cake pics & yes mam you are a pro, in my book So, did you meet Collette? WOW lucky you. Shes so amazing. |

I do my initial smoothing with a hot sheet rock knife. I have a 6 in. and 4 in.. but always like to finish off with the viva.. Yeah, the class with Colette Peters was great fun! She's such a nice person. Super friendly and very easy to talk to.. |

I did not much like the waxed paper or the printer paper either. I love the viva though. Colette seems to be a very nice person. Good luck to ya!! |

| You might want to try using a small foam paint roller after your buttercream has crusted. ![]() |

| Beautiful cakes. I would love to learn the art of cake decorating. I can bake them up to perfection. Decorating...hahahahhaa...have to send those out to my deariest friend to get them done. Maybe she and I should do a side cake business...lol. On top of my business I have now, where would I find the time. |
