Post Russian cigarettes

Has anyone made Russian cigarettes? I recently tried and had no luck. Just wondered if anyone has had luck with them.

Well, they are cookies that are wrapped around a tube or dowel while still warm and then filled with an almond paste and each end is dipped in chocolate. They sounded wonderful but I just couldn't get the cookies to turn out right. I can usually tackle any recipe I come up against but I think I was having an off day. Or maybe it's just something I can't tackle. I can post the recipe or send it to you later. I got it from the FoodTV website.

Yes, if you post your recipe, we can figure out what went wrong. What's the problem? Are your tuiles cracking?

Does that come in tablet form, too??

Sorry I haven't posted the recipe yet. Holding down 2 jobs, taking care of 1 yr. old and planning a party doesn't leave me much time lately.

They're not cracking. They come out a little too spongy. I'm actually going to try it again a little later on but I will try to get the rcipe on here soon.

Thanks, everyone.

Sounds to me like you need to thin it out with a bit of egg white.

Okay, for spongy or soggy cig's try this batter and keep uniform thickness while spreading.Bake at 350 f. allow to brown on edges. I like to use a silpat or pam coated parchment. I have also used a butter coated pan frozen and spread the batter on in the walk-in to insure uniform tuiles.

HONEY TUILES

1# BUTTER
1 CUP HONEY
2 CUPS WHITES
4 CUPS FLOUR
4 CUPS 10 X SUGAR

cream butter with powder sugar, very smooth texture is required at this point. add in honey and egg whites, this will cause the batter to "break". add in the flour doing so will bring the batter together again.
Mix can be halved and doubled.

kids, jobs, i can so relate!
