 Do you know this Italian pastry?
In the '70s my ex mother in-law made a great Italian pastry - I can't find a recipe in spite of my searches, so maybe you can help. Thank you. This pastry had an anise flavor and was made with ricotta cheese. It was soft and moist - a doughy soft pastry with the anise flavored and cheese filling. The pastry was very plain looking. It was not flaky or crispy at all. Usually she made them and wrapped the filling in a rectangular shape maybe six to seven inches long and one and one-half to two inches wide, and about three quarters inch thick. I loved them and she was a great cook. Anyone know what this pastry is?
