I always use the Wilton Baking strips dipped in cool water before baking any cake 10 inches and larger. (I also use the Wilton Heating Core).

I am need a simple rum cake that you can make in a 12x18 sheet pan. Can I just make a (white, delicate) cake and pour a rum flavored syrup over it and then ice it with whipping topping?
