| Hi! I am a college student in NYC and I would like to get started in the catering business. I have staged at a somewhat high-end restaurant in NYC and have substantial knowledge of food and of the industry. While I am not looking for a job here, I'd like to know if anyone can direct me to any specific catering companies where I can learn about the business. Anything here in NYC would be greatly appreciated...Emily |

| Recently I entertained thoughts of getting into the catering biz. Part of my research was to take a course called "So You Want To Open a Catering Business". The class is offered at Peter Kump's in NYC. It is a 3 session course, about 3 hours per session. The course is taught by David Turk, the owner of Indiana Market & Catering, a full service catering company in NYC. David is very knowledgeable and well connected to the catering biz in the city. The course is offered several times a year. If you're interested you can give the school a call @212-847-0700.

| Entrepreneur Magazine publishes a series of "how to" books. These guide you through most of the steps you need in your chosen industry. I believe there's one specifically for a small catering business. Ask your local librarian. They might be able to help you out. Kuan
