This is the problem with my job. I am the sous chef at a place where the executive chef/owner's girlfriend is on my shift, also her brother, aunt, and cousin work there. So I regularly run into the attitude of "I'll call chef" on his day(S) off. The brother has been fired three times(and I never Hired him back)once for a 2 week no call no show. This has been going on for over a year, I do not know how much longer I can deal. but the place is great resume builder. Any one got any Ideas

How long have you been there? If it's been a year, I'd give my notice if I were you.

I was at a place where I really needed to move on and I kept telling my self "I love my job", but finally moved on and now I really do love my job.

I was sous at a place that was a resume builder, it also had some weird things going on. Eventually, the weird things stressed me to the point that a "him or me" developed between the chef and myself. I lost. Don't put yourself in that position. Move on on your own terms.

There's little worse than being trapped in a work situation where you're essentially expected to make up for the inadequacies of someone's boyfriend or girlfriend or idiot cousin. Good luck.

Working for a restaurant run by the owner can be wierd. There are alway relatives who get favoritism, the chef has big gaps in his expertise, sometimes the owner has some motivation in running a restaurant that has nothing to do with turning out good food, making happy customers, and running a successful business.
