However, the drinking problem is compounded by an attitude problem. Do, indeed, post the AA telno; moreover, have a serious sit down with HRA, His Royal Arrogance.

Do you have any kind of "probation" that you could enforce? If the behavior continues, various levels of restriction are employed.
It may help him to see the slipery slope he's on. Good Luck.

Well, you can fire him, or let everyone on the staff give him a huge talking down, or make a hangover as miserable for him as it gets..... i'd headbutt him and scream at him to wake up but u might find a warrant for your arrest going my way. one good way is to arrange a bogus initiation ceremony that your staff supposedly gone through and make him sign a clause. then arrange a few nails on a good chopping board that fits between each finger and some string to hold his hand down. then tell him for every mistake he makes, he would lose a joint of any finger he preferred and would be forced to cook it and eat it. maybe that would work
save yourself the trouble and fire him (:

Just wanted to say that Tonight I am off so it will be his first night alone!! NERVOUS!
The Sous-Chef is aware however that he most likely can't handle it by himself so he will be accompanied tonight by the Sous-Chef himself. He told me last night he wants to "assess" the situation! I feel a bit better that it isn't only me who has noticed this...It was actually the Sous-Chef who came to me yesterday and asked if this had been going on since his first day. I was very honest with him and hopefully everything will work out just fine! Thanks for the support guys!

Sorry you are having so much trouble with this guy. But it fits in with something I've been noticing during the past few years--that the kids who are working while in high school (lots of those)and college, too, don't really take their jobs very seriously. Not all, of course, everybody's different. But most of the food service kids seem to view work as time to goof off. Same thing for kids who work at WalMart and in grocery stores. They just view it as time to go hang out and do as little as possible, or maybe tear up a few things while they're at it. Being hungover is too often typical of their everyday life. Unfortunately, I see a lot of them during morning classes who look like they just rolled off a barstool. Can't prove it, of course, and their parents deny that their kids drink. They are just high school kids. I have no answer for you, but I wish you luck in solving your problem.I keep hoping employers will take a firmer line with kids instead of acting like they just can't control them. Kids need to learn how to work. After all, we are dependent upon today's kids to run the world of tomorrow! Good luck with your problem.
