Default Information Gathering

Hey all,

I just put my 4 month notice in at work (my wife is getting transfered to Madison and it doesn't pay for me to commute about an hour for less than $10 an hour). So, now I'm heading to the big city of Madison, and feel like a little fish in a big pond. But, anyways, I'm getting off track.

My question involves finding out fair wage. I'm just finishing my resume up, cover letter and preparing to mail them out to several restaurants that seem to sound intresting to work for. I have an idea of what to ask for, which I think is fair, but am not 100% sure if I should ask for more or not. My question is does anyone know a good way to find out fair wage of an area. Bonus points if it could be based on experience and knowledge (both of which are difficult to measure). Thank you.

David

Often a states unemployment compensation system will have prevailing wage by occupation data, and very often a website. You might try there.
