So, it was a slow night last night. Myself and the GM closed the restaurant and had a nice talk about where we want things to go and how to get there. The one part that really held fast in my mind was about the atmosphere and general feel of the restaurant (Luna Caffe). He wants it to be a fun place to eat. Fun music (not funny, just different and upbeat), fun attitude, fun outlay (intresting, conversation starters everywhere but not too busy), etc. To help to fit this better, I've been thinking of fun foods and a question occured to me... What is fun food? With the first phase of the new menu coming to a close (1 month trial to see what sells and what doesn't), I'm stating to look twards things I would like to try and possibly add to the menu. If any has ideas on what you would call fun food, please speak up. Thanks a head of time.

Brightly colored, well seasoned. No 3 plops on a plate. Sticks, skewers, buns, and crusts. I'm thinking, saute, wok, deep fry, grill, toasted.

i love comfort food. i think adapting comfort food into stylish small bites would be awesome. i know it's a bit played out, but there's the s'mores fad. anything deep fried -- deep fried mac n cheese, fried chix and waffles, beer battered gourmet sausages, cobb salad stack with crispy chicken. there's asian -- asian noodles with italian pesto, ahi tartar on tempura eggplant, miso glazed fish on avocado salad, etc. desserts -- PB&J ice cream, shag-a-delic coconut layer cake, chocolate dipped fruits, fondue.

Food with alittle twist. ginger lemonade, cantalope with chili and lime in the midwest, years ago it would have been parsley pesto or oatmeal brulee....

| Hmmm. Let me just imagine... fun for me on a night out would be: champaign and sorbet fondue with a teasing Chardonnay spicy salad greens with a crisp sauv blanc Maguro sashimi on daikon with wasabi, soy, lemon and ginger and a finger of hot saki Cioppino with out-of-the-oven sourdough and a bold Pinot noir Herb crusted lamb and a crazy Zin A platter of cheeses and tropical fruit with herb schnapps (the German kind for digestion, not sweet American!) A small scoop of dark chocolate gilato with a strawberry and an espresso Well, thats where my imagination took me this morning ;-) I have to go plant grapes now! Good luck!
