Default What a day!

I haven't had a day like Thursday in a LONG time and hope I don't see another ever!

It start when I fired my only night help for calling in sick for the 5th time in 6 weeks (also missed 2 days with doctor's appointments?). He called back and talked to the owner begging for his job back. Well, she asked me to talk to him and I did and he was begging like a baby at a candy counter. I had already warned him about missing work. Guess he didn't take me seriously. So I said what Donald Trump would say - "your are fired."

2:50 p.m. - One employee fired.

When I walk out of the office I hear all this commotion out front. One of our waitress, who is pregnant, is having craps. We thought she was going to have the baby right then and there. False alarm, thanks goodness, but we did talk her to her doctor.

3:30 a.m. - One employee fired, almost delivered a baby!

I make it back to the kitchen and am cleaning my work station when someone ask me a question. I look up and before I know it I knocked a stack of soup bowls on the floor. As I go to get the broom and dust pan to clean up I knock over a pitcher of tea, only half full, at the wait station. This is not a good sign.

3:50 p.m.- One employee fired, almost delivered one baby, broke 6 soup bowls and spilled a pitcher of tea.

I've gone a whole hour without anything happening. Our pregnant waitress returns and she is O.K. Finally something good.

As the pregnant waitress and another waitress leave for the day I get a call minutes later that they were involved in a hit and run car wreck! The pregnant one is o.k. but the other waitress was banged up, nothing serious, but very sore. Their van was totaled. A witness did manage to get the license of the hit and run vehicle. Scary moment.

5:15 p.m. One employee fired, almost delivered a baby, broke 6 soup bowls, and 2 waitress in a car wreck!

It's calm and almost normal for the rest of the night but I'm not done yet. As I fired my only night help I stayed late to get some things done. I take out some trash and come back in and lock the door. I go in the office to shut down the computer, turn off the light and lock the door.

Can you seeing where this is going?

I make one final round to check the doors and coolers. Everything is locked up and secure. It's 1:00 a.m. and it's finally time to go home. I go to set the alarm but can't find my keys. Not in my pocket, Not in the door. I look inside the locked office through a small window and see my keys lying on the desk. All my keys, even the key to the office!

Can't jimmy the lock so at 1:30 a.m. I have to call my boss. Yes, I still have a job. The boss comes and unlocks the office and I am free.

The day from you-know-where is finally over!
Time for a tall one.

Hope yours was a lot better.

Yes, she's fine, not hurt in the wreck but here doctor doesn't want her waiting tables so we are making her a cashier until she has the baby. The other waitress was back at work today and she is doing fine also. Thanks for asking.

Jeez, what a day. I can only imagine your state of mind as you looked in at the keys. Glad it's behind you!
