How about Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, or the William Tell Overture, or Night on Bald Mountain for knife wielding? Need something bombastic for such activities. Oh well, I took a stab at it. I'm sure some will cut me down for my suggestions no matter how you slice it.

Ok Crudeau, for that one I had to look up your profile. Cooking and shooting huh?

crudeau,
What about "The Flight of the Valkyries." by Wagner. Remember that from Apocalypse Now. "We play the music because it scares the sh*t out of the waitors." Also, before a huge rush, on of those nights when you just know you're dead meat, play the old Three Dog Night song, "The Show goes On." Complete with circus music. It will get you going.

Ahh Tom Waits, the master of understatement. I like to play "Frank's Wild Years" for all the new staff, so they know what it's going to be like in the middle of the summer rush.

Crudeau, I hope I didn't offend you. I agree with you 100%. I couldn't kill a dear myself but I'm glad some people can because I LOVE eating it! I'm not one to be fooled by political correctness either...

Anneke:

No offense taken at all. I used to hunt, but haven't been in quite some time. My shooting now consists of punching holes in paper.

It's really too bad that our modern society has forgotten where meat comes from. Someone, I believe it was CampChef said that the kids that come to camp have never seen raw chickens with bone in. How sad is that?

Most hunters have a great deal of respect for the animals they harvest. Much more so than the average citizen. They are also the ones to support healthy animal populations, e.g. Duck Unlimited, etc.

Believe me, it is a lot more palateable to see the results of the individual hunt than it is to visit the kill room at the slaughterhouse.

And yes, you are right. Wild game does have some significant benefits over some of the other meats we consume, both flavor and health-wise.

Most people don't realize this, but we now have more deer in this country today that when the Pilgrims came over on the Mayflower.

Whew! didn't mean to be so long-winded.

Crudeau, I think you should start a new thread with this topic. It's well worth it. There is so much misinformation on the subject.. With the growing popularity of game (and fur coats - ouch!) I think many of us might be better cooks if we had a better understanding of how game is hunted and why, and some of the differences with domesticated animals. Not a popular subject but definitely relevant to chefs or wannabechefs like me!

Hay, everyone. Nice to see so many different asspects on music. I love music as much as I love cooking. Nothing is more relaxing then listening to Pennywise after a hard days work. Watch some tube?! No way!!
Today was my last day at work, and I have a week to decide if I want to renew my contract. I think I will. I really don't want to move anywhere, right now. I'm listening to NOFX right now and I'm heading to the beach tonight to go surf a little. You reap what you sow, right?

Sure, cooking and shooting. What's wrong with that? Both are loads of fun. I am not PC because Politically Correct is Socially Irresponsible.

Crudeau, I love the line about PC=SI. That's perfect.
I also like that this could be a new thread. I hate that it's okay to eat dead animals as long as you don't know from where they came. One story from my dad's childhood that sticks in my mind is that of his summer in the hog house at Rath Packing in Waterloo, IA.
I'm a champion marks[wo]man and compete regularly. My interest was conceived as a child who grew up on a farm in southern Michigan. One taste of wild duck properly cooked and I was hooked.
But I digress... I think I hear something calling me from the speaker in my kitchen.
Ciao!

I was thinking about starting my own PETA group...People for Eating Tasty Animals.

I also have a recipe somewhere???for duck, sausage, and oyster gumbo that is out of this world. However, I haven't made it in a long time.

I hear third time's a charm. Let's see if that's right. The first time I replied, it didn't post. (Could it be that spell check error I received?) The second time I was booted off line. Gosh! I can't wait for that DSL installation next week.

Crudeau,
I love your statement of PC=SI. That's perfect and, if you don't mind, I will use it. Probably often
It's okay to eat dead animals as long as you don't know from where (or how) they came. The worst story my dad tells is of his summer working in the the slaughter house at Rath Packing in Waterloo, Iowa. He didn't eat anything that had a parent for two years.
I am a champion marks[wo]man and compete often. My interest was conceived as a child who grew up in Southern Michigan. One taste of wild duck properly cooked and I was hooked. There are "seasons" for a reason. (Sorry if there's poetry here.)
Please make this a thread. I'd like to read more about this.
But alas, there's a speaker calling out in the kitchen and I must cook.
Ciao!

Crudeau,
Must be my connection. Man, I know Pheonix is behind the times but the fact that this will now be posted three times is a bit much!
I'd love the recipe. Just the mention makes my mouth water!
How about venison steaks? Or a nice roast? I'm totally recalling those years. It was an anual event for my dad, brother and me. Then there's that wild turkey. Have you ever worked with that? Man! Thanksgiving has a whole new meaning. I have to stop now. I'll go too far.
